The challenge

Vintage watches do not sell like ordinary retail stock. Every piece is one unit with its own reference number, movement, condition grade, and service history. Generic storefronts assume interchangeable inventory with sizes and quantities, so sellers end up pasting the details that actually determine value into free-text descriptions — where no buyer can filter on them.

Our approach

  1. 1Built the catalog around one-of-one inventory instead of fighting a bulk-retail model: sold means sold, with no quantity field to drift out of sync.
  2. 2Turned the attributes collectors shop on — brand, reference, era, movement, case material, condition — into faceted filters rather than prose.
  3. 3Captured provenance as real fields: service history, box and papers, condition notes, each queryable and visible before a buyer commits.
  4. 4Designed checkout for high-value, low-frequency purchases, where buyer confidence matters more than speed to cart.
